About Ritch Middle School

P.B. Ritch opened its doors to students in August 2012. Nestled in the intersection of retail shops and local businesses just off the well traveled Charles Hardy Parkway, our diverse student body lives in a variety of smaller neighborhoods and apartment complexes.

Ritch Middle School is named after Paul B. Ritch, Sr., who served as an educator for over 40 years in Paulding County.  Mr. Ritch began his teaching career in a two-room schoolhouse at Willow Springs and taught at Concord, Wheelan and Hiram, where he assumed the position of Principal in 1938. Under his leadership, the commercial department was introduced, enabling students to learn typing and shorthand, as the county emerged from the Depression and began to change from its agriculture-oriented past to a more urban industry-oriented future. Mr. Ritch had a long life and many honors.  What he was most proud of was having a junior high school named Paul B. Ritch School, located off Ridge Road.  On January 24, 2012, the School Board transferred the name P. B. Ritch to Middle School #9, naming it P. B. Ritch Middle School.   The original P. B. Ritch was built as a middle school and was later converted to an elementary school.  It was the desire of the Ritch family that the name be transferred once the elementary school was closed. 

 

School Hours:

 

Student arrival begins at 8:15 and students are considered tardy if not in homeroom by 8:40 (breakfast service is 8:15-8:40). Student dismissal begins at 3:35. Car rider pick-up is in the front of the school and bus rider dismissal takes place in the rear of the school.
